Transparency moment, as a fibroid warrior, I can't remember when I was diagnosed with fibroids but I do know I suffered from them for a very long time. It may have been in my late 20s when I was diagnosed and unfortunately, I didn't take the diagnosis seriously and I was lacking so much knowledge at the time. Years went by, doctor visit's were had, pelvic and vaginal ultra sounds were performed but it wasn't until 2020/2021 I buckled down and took everything about this diagnosis seriously. I had my myomectomy back in July 2021 (40 years old) and it changed everything. Moving forward and doing so much research own my own regarding the impact this has on black women, I began to dig deeper and evaluate what I was eating, using on my body, environmental factors and my entire lifestyle as a whole. It is because of my own journey and this organization's mission; drives me to continue to advocate for women's health and women that suffer from fibroids.
