Dr. Jessica Shepherd

Dr. Shepherd is an OB/GYN and women's health expert and also the founder of Her Viewpoint, an online women's health forum that focuses on addressing taboo topics in a comfortable setting. As an OB/GYN, she practices at the University of Illinois at Chicago and also serves as the Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecology. Dr. Shepherd has written in various journals including Women's Day, Women's Health, Self, Family Circle, Parents,, Heart and Soul, Best Health, Essence, and WebMD. She is also seen regularly as an expert on The Today Show, Dr. Oz, Steve Harvey, CBS News, FOX news (NY, LA Chicago and Dallas), WGN News and WCIU in Chicago where she is a monthly health contributor as well as guest co host. In addition to radio programs nationwide, Dr. Shepherd also gives lectures nationally and internationally on fibroids and myomectomies and women's health issues.


Dr. Soyini Hawkins

Dr. Soyini Mattis Hawkins, is a fellowship trained Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgeon. She is a solo Gynecology provider at Fibroid and Pelvic Wellness Center of Georgia in Alpharetta, GA. Dr. Hawkins received her medical degree in Georgia at Morehouse School of Medicine. She completed her Internship and Residency training at the University of Maryland Medical Center Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and Fellowship at Mercy Medical Center. In Baltimore. Dr. Hawkins’ runs a surgical gynecology practice that specializes in the management of abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, fibroids, endometriosis and complex gynecologic cases.


Dr. Alicia Christy

Dr. Alicia Christy is a veteran, an OB/GYN and Director of Reproductive Health at the Veterans Administration. In her role, she provides support to regional and national staff on women’s reproductive health programs and policies. She also analyzes complex program and policy issues relevant to Women’s Health Services.


Dr. Charis Chambers AKA The Period Doctor

Dr. Charis Chambers was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Crandall and Charlette Chambers. Dr. Chambers attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in the spring of 2008. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2010 with a degree in Biology. She attended medical school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and completed OBGYN Residency at Greenville Memorial Hospital in 2018 where she was inducted into the prestigious medical society of Alpha Omega Alpha. She is currently in fellowship training for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology with plans to join her father and brother in their OBGYN practice back home in Phenix City, AL / Columbus, GA.

She launched her social media platform, The Period Doctor, in the summer of 2019, after recognizing an unmet need for medically accurate women’s health information and minority physician representation in social media outlets. While her life’s journey, both personal and professional, has been challenging at times, she feels extremely blessed knowing exactly where her help comes from. Her favorite verse is 2nd Timothy 1:7, “God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of a sound mind.” She attributes her tenacity and resilience to her late mother who taught her again and again to speak up, laugh off the little things, and love without apology.


Dr. Ruthie Arumala

“I have a patient-centered approach to healthcare. I believe in treating people not their conditions. I have a passion to not only provide excellent medical care but to empower women to make healthier choices that enable them to live a happier, more fulfilling life.”

As an Obstetrician-Gynecologist with a practice in Mansfield, Texas, Dr. Ruth Arumala provides evidence based medical care to women of all ages at all aspects of their lives. Dr. Arumala specializes in the medical and surgical management of fibroids, PCOS, sexual dysfunction, pregnancy and menopause. In addition to private practice, Dr. Arumala serves on the executive board of Texas Health Mansfield.

Dr. Arumala has won several awards that demonstrate her exceptional clinical skills and service to her community. These include 2020 National Minority Quality Forum’s 40 Under 40 Leaders in Minority Health, 2020 Patient Preferred OBGYN/Menopause Specialist, 2020 Fort Worth Magazine “Top Docs” Tarrant County, Ob-Gyn, 2020 Texas Super Doctors Rising Stars, and 2020 Women in Medicine’s “Top ObGyn” Fort Worth.

Armed with her varied experience in medical training, Ruth Arumala, DO, MPH, NCMP serves as an Assistant Professor in Ob/Gyn at TCU-UNTHSC medical school in Fort Worth, Tx. In this role, she prepares the next generation of physicians for their careers.

Given her passion for “all things women,” Dr. Arumala also serves as the entertaining hostess of the ‘Pretty + Pink Podcast.” From fashion to fitness, fibroids and faith, Dr. Arumala interviews inspirational female expert guests who explore a broad range of topics that affect women.

Dr. Obehi Asemota

Obehi Asemota MD is the medical director and founder of Hope Fertility; a fertility clinic based in Atlanta GA, USA. She specializes in all aspects of reproductive medicine, including fertility preservation (egg and embryo freezing), in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection, LGBTQ+ reproduction, ovulation induction, third party reproduction, and recurrent pregnancy loss.. Her practice is focused on working with couples who are struggling with infertility, to assist them in building a healthy family by empowering and educating them on all available fertility treatment options.

She considers providing compassionate, personalized infertility care to patients of all walks of life her calling.

Her research has been published in Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Fertility and Sterility. She has also been the recipient of numerous honors and awards throughout her academic career and medical training, including the Mary Ellen Hartman Award for Outstanding Social Consciousness in Leadership from Drexel University College of Medicine and the AstraZeneca Community Service Scholarship. Dr. Asemota is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Dr. Asemota received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Chicago and her MD from Drexel University College of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Hahnemann University Hospital, where she served as academic chief resident. She was also a fellow in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Montefiore Institute of Reproductive Medicine-Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

In her spare time, Dr. Asemota enjoys spending time with her friends, husband and twin boys.


Dr. Heather Irobunda

Dr. Heather Irobunda, is an Obstetrician Gynecologist based in Queens, New York. After completing four years of medical school, four years of residency, four years as an active duty Army OB/GYN ,and now working in private practice, Dr. Irobunda has treated thousands of patients. This experience has shed light on many themes, but one really stands out to her– there is a major gap in access to reliable, transparent online information for women to learn about their health. Having seen both sides of the doctor patient relationship, Dr. Irobunda knows that there are issues with women, particularly women of color, being able to feel comfortable with their healthcare providers.

Dr. Irobunda knows that doctors can be intimidating, but she is here to show patients that they don’t have to be. Doctors are patients (and people) too, and she hopes to use her experiences, personal and professional, to help all women feel they can make informed decisions and become advocates for themselves. Through Dr. Irobunda’s passion for community health paired with her medical expertise, her goal is to help women to feel empowered when seeking medical care.


Dr. Karen Tang

Dr. Karen Tang is a nationally recognized leader in women’s health and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS). She has trained medical students and residents at Harvard, Oregon Health and Sciences University, University of Miami and UPenn, and has given lectures across the U.S. on topics of women’s health and minimally invasive surgery.

Her areas of expertise are advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery (hysteroscopy), endometriosis and adenomyosis, chronic pelvic pain, fibroids and abnormal uterine bleeding, management of abnormal Pap smears and cervical dysplasia.

Dr. Tang received her education and training at the University of Chicago, Columbia University, Harvard University, and the Legacy Health System (Portand, OR). She is one of only a few fellowship-trained minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons in Eastern Pennsylvania. She is also sensitive to the unique health and cultural issues faced by transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, and provides care for all patients in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner.

Dr. Tang is married and has three children. She loves traveling internationally, and promoting women’s health on social media.


Therapist Tori Dixon

Tori Dixon is a licensed professional counselor specializing in providing compassionate and graceful guidance for those navigating various aspects of life. She specializes in grief and loss, practicing from the belief that any barrier to mental wellness is ultimately attributed to some sense of loss. It may be the loss of a loved one; the loss of a relationship or marriage; loss of a job or career; loss of safety and security after experiencing trauma or loss of confidence in one’s ability to thrive. Whatever the loss, Therapist Tori believes that grace and space to acknowledge and properly grieve loss is the first step on the road to true healing and emotional and mental wholeness. She has adopted a theoretically-sound, culturally-competent and faith-based approach that focuses on engaging and meeting patients where they are in their journey. Her passion is to help individuals find the confidence and strength needed to walk in the light of who they have been created to be. She has built her life on serving others. Therapist Tori’s practice epitomizes service by placing emphasis on trust, authenticity, compassion, wise and pragmatic counsel, professionalism and of course, grace.

Graceful Journey Counseling has been a longtime dream of hers.
